Here in Paris

I've been here in Paris since Saturday and pretty much adjusted to the timezone. Today is the first day of the Ubuntu Developer Summit so things have been busy.

Yesterday was nice, got to roam around the city with mdz and aseigo starting at the Notre Dame de Paris, then walked by the river Seine going to the Louvre (thanks to Tenshu for correcting me). After getting some "culture" seeing the Mona Lisa (overrated in my opinion) and works by Raphael we decided to go to la tour Eiffel so we took the Metro going to Champ de Mars. Too bad it was a Sunday and the place was packed so we didn't even think of going up.

Things I learned here:
  • Bottled water is expensive (€2 for a small bottle of Evian)
  • The hotel corridor lights are turned off by default so if the sensor above doesn't even detect you, you're going to walk in a dark hallway
  • We're currently surrounded by a wheatfield and some industrial park of sorts so going to the city takes half an hour using the Metro.
  • The Mona Lisa is overrated
We'll probably have some more time before the Summit ends to look around the city more.

Salamat ng marami! (Thank you very much!)

As read from Martin Pitt's email to ubuntu-annouce, its now possible to have Tagalog in GNOME with Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper Drake"! Tagalog language packs will be coming to your desktop every first monday of the month, but you can also get the Tagalog language packs anytime because it is automatically built everyday. Check out the email of Martin for the instructions.

But the translation work is not yet done, If you would like to join and help in translating, please visit the Launchpad page where Tagalog packages are waiting for your love!

Everything of this is also not possible without the leadership and coordination of Debian-Tagalog.

I dream of Amarula

Thanks to JaneW, it hasn't left my mind ever since she mentioned it in her blog.

Now that I am full of it at the moment, my weekend is complete.

Unforunately, a bottle is priced like gold in my place so it'll take a while for me to enjoy again, the pleasures of what the Elephant tree offers.

Brain Training Update

I'm proud to say that even though I am down with a flu since Friday, my (assumed effective) brain training is paying off. My Nintendo DS Brain Age is now 29 from a dismal 65. Next stop, the Big Brain Academy.
